The data page at BugGuide lists recordings for Black Saddlebags in Minnesota and Michigan as well as Ontario, Canada. http://bugguide.net/node/view/3821/data Dragonflies Through Binoculars(Dunkle,2000) shows the range covering all of lower Michigan, most of Wisconsin and southern Minnesota.
Dragonflies are tricky...I'm not 100% sure of this. Website said "absent from upper mid-west".... would that include Michigan?? It is a saddlebags, for sure, but there are several species.
