Not that I'm aware of, but the terrain and climate in this particular area is very harsh...very dry, 100+ in summer, freezing in winter. That might be what keeps them from spreading.
The Brazilian Pepper tree is a terrible pest in FL. http://plants.ifas.ufl.edu/node/405 I was amazed to see that the CA Pepper Tree is the same genus. Any problems with it becoming invasive in CA?
