Field Notes

Description:

Pale green with zigzag white marking running down its back. Stiff black hairs on its legs. Almost 2 cm long.

Habitat:

Found walking on the back of my hand clutching its kill so placed it in the nearest tree, may have landed there while walking through tall grass.

Notes:

Could anyone name this for me?

Hi! I agree with EmilieC that this is a Neoscona species. Since the picture is so clear, you can see a dark dorsal ridge (the vertical depression on the spider’s cephalothorax), which helps distinguish it from Araneus species.
