Hi Karen ¡ Thanks a lot for your ID ¡ It is no wonder to found a new invasive specie at Xochimilco, however this one apparently is particularly harmful since it is a carrier for Chitridio and Xochimilco is the natural habitat of Ambystoma mexicanus, an endemic specie which already has a lot of threatens. So thank you for your help
We found it at Xochimilco, a periurban wetland in Mexico City. This wetland is man made about 600 years ago. It has land plots builded to crop greens and between the landplots there are canals. The frog was at a refuge isolated from invasive species (fish and carp), about 40 cm depth , very slow flow, with crayfish, godeids, insect larvae and snails.
Everything about this frog looks interesting !! Got webbed hind toes. Could you please write where you found this frog - the kind of place- swamp, pond ??
