Description:
One somewhat nodding, stalked, pink or white flower with strongly curved-back petals and leaves in threes. The flowers face downward, and the sepals are narrow and sickle-shaped.
Habitat:
Distribution USA: AL , GA , NC , SC , TN Native Distribution: North Carolina south to Georgia and west to Alabama and Tennessee. Native Habitat: Woodlands. Most of its populations are in the Piedmont from North Carolina to Alabama, under deciduous trees such as American beech, various oak and hickory species, and tulip poplar.

Spotted along Vineyard Mountain Eagle Scout Trail at the Riverside Day Use Park.
