Peloponnese wall lizard
Podarcis peloponnesiacus
37.0272, 21.6947
Field Notes
Description:
About 20 cm body with 20 cm tale. Bright green and red spots in the neck area. Black patterns on sand-coloured body.
Habitat:
Spotted outside the public lavatories, near the parking area of the Palace of Nestor archaeological site, near the village of Chora (Pylos-Nestoras municipalily) in Messenia regional unit (prefecture), Southwest Peloponnese, Greece.
Notes:
This is a male wall lizard, found all over the Peloponnese but especially in the south. The lizard was spotted sitting on a slab of concrete. It was very shy and it moved quickly to the place, so I just about managed to photograph it.
