Description:
Very big and very hairy! Prehistoric looking.
They vary in color from , red, black, brown or yellow
I'm not 100 percent sure this is a Tachinid fly, but when I looked it up I felt this is mostly likely it. Can't find anything else that resembles it.
Habitat:
I found this on some wild flowers boardering my yard. They can be found on flowers or marshy areas during the summer and fall. this one was spotte din Connecticut
Notes:
they are lethal predators to the insects they feed on. Most feed on the caterpillar of moths.
Some are deliberately imported from other areas to control destructive moth populations.
