Field Notes

Description:

While this particular photo dates some time back, I have in fact observed these same dragonflies this year and gotten a photo but it was taken from some distance away and is not as clear as these. I think their color is simply gorgeous and their wings sparkle in the sun!

Habitat:

Oak woodlands, chaparral, somewhat riparian.

Notes:

In the last photo, I believe you can see the flame skimmer eating a gnat or other small, black insect.
