Field Notes

Description:

Greenblueish parrot with white head and a chestnut coloured patch above its beak. Red patches on its wings and a red under tail. The beak is black and the patches around the eyes are white with lines of small black feathers. It is the only one of the miniature macaws that has lines of feathers in the bare patches around its eyes.

Habitat:

At the foot of Cerro del Avila in Caracas, Venezuela.

Notes:

I have been looking out for the many parrots of Caracas and seen many. But as it is at the moment dangerous to walk with a big camera in public I have not been able to take good pictures. I will have to find them in secure places where I can pull out my small Canon with min. zoom. This was a lucky day, where one of the three landed right in front of me in a tree and I zoomed at my max and luckily the pictures came out ok. I am very pleased.
