Notes:

This dragonfly fell from a silk tree to the ground in front of me. I don't know what was wrong with it, but it died later. I thought it may have been exposed to the insecticides the fields nearby were spraying.

Possibly a female western pondhawk - erythemis collocata http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erythemis_collocata Sad that it didn't survive.
