Description:

about 2' high, leaves and flower entirely red, maybe a type of Amaranthus? possibly an escapee from a garden?

Habitat:

sandy soil

Notes:

I spotted this growing near the water along the old canal leading to Glendale Ave. I only saw 2 of these plants while hiking around the whole area.
