Description:

trailing woody shrub with elongated oval leaves

Habitat:

spotted on low lying roadside

Notes:

Most likely of the Fabaceae family but I can't seem to locate it.

I've added two photos I found from a couple of months ago--the first shows more truly the flower's color and the second a green seed pod.
Appreciate the lead, Jean (eventhough FL is quite a long way from California).
They look very much like our native Northern California "woodland pea" (we have many varieties of vetches and peas), Lathyrus vestitus.
I don't belive that's a match, p.young. These flowers are definitely pea-like rather than tubular and dusky pink as opposed to rich red. The cedar sage looks familiar, though. Thanks for the suggestion and I welcome your help.
