Typical Apocynaceae family fragrant flowering plant... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apocynaceae
This is originated from West Indies or Caribbean countries.
I'm sure I have these growing at work, with the common name of Snow Star. Will try & get to that garden tomorrow to check for you :)
Thanks for the suggestion S Frazier. What I should have put down in the description is that these are growing on a shrub, not a tree. Also the leaves are not oblong as pee the pong pong in your link. I haven't found a picture matching mine exactly yet. I'll leave the identification blank for now... This is really helpful and fun !
Your flower has very a distinct (and beautiful) flower shape (whirling star) and arrangement. All the flowers have 5 petals and a yellow center. Jasminum sambac although white, typically has many more than 5 petals. You might just see the photo from the suggestion link one more time (from Singapore) to make sure. :-)
Thanks for the ID! Yeah the water drops made me think it was melted candy :)
