Field Notes

Description:

We have a family of Bewick's wrens here on the property where I live. They nest in a large brushpile across the driveway and probably the most vocal birds around here! These birds are quick and thus very difficult to photograph!

Habitat:

Dry hills, chaparral, oak woodlands

Notes:

I have newer photos than these but these are the two best I've ever taken.

Oh, Emma! They are SUCH tiny, tiny creatures! And busy? Constantly flying in small groups from tree to bush to tree -- gleaning as they go... They seem to really enjoy eating aphids -- a very happy coincidence for gardeners like me!
http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6916248 this is a bushtits nest! If you had joined Noah earlier we could have asked you to help us solve the mystery!!
Wren tits ,bushtits and this wren could be confused very easily!
Thanks so much, Dana, Ava & Lisa! (I have to confess that I also have a couple of pretty good bushtit photos as well! lol!)
Beautiful picture! I have Bewick's in my back yard but can never get a picture of them.
