Ceanothus Silkmoth
Hyalophora euryalus (male & female)
50.9298, -119.412
Field Notes
Description:
These photos were taken along the Shuswap in British Columbia. This pair of hyalophora euryalus were in the process of conjugal bliss. If you look closely at the 3rd photo you can see the female has damaged her wings. This happened the evening before as she, attracted by the light, battered against the window. The following day I decided to look around and found her together with the male in this shrub.
Habitat:
The Hyalophora Euryals can be found in the interior of British Columbia all the way down to Baja California.
