Field Notes

Description:

The American White Ibis (Eudocimus albus) is a species of wading bird in the ibis family Threskiornithidae. It occurs from the mid-Atlantic and Gulf coast of the United States south through most of the New World tropics.Migration: Generally a permanent resident throughout its range, but some of the more northerly birds do move south in the fall. Strays do occasionally move well inland during the breeding season.

Habitat:

Coastal and inland waters, this was a freshwater pond.

Notes:

This is the most ibis I have seen all year.I counted more than 30. I think they may have migrated in this week. They are friendly birds and as we were leaving the park a few were following us out!!
