Great Egret

Ardea alba

This Egret has had many Common names over the years but is now known as Great Egret in America and Great White Egret elsewhere. Since many of the Egrets are white the use of White Egret can be considered generic instead of specific, whereas the Latin name (scientific name) is specific to a single species. I have also given you some links to reference sources, here is another: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Egret you may add all these details to your page if you wish using the "edit this spotting" above your name.
This would be a perfect spotting for a new local mission for Backyard birding in the south eastern USA: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8024064
