Description:

This very small bird is known for constantly flicking its wings and rarely weighs in at heavier than 3/8 of an ounce. The ruby crown is usually concealed but I was fortunate to capture the colorful crown in this photo. It also has an incomplete white eye-ring.

Habitat:

Forages at mid-level in trees, singly or with other species.
