Field Notes

Description:

White orchid, single flower growing from a single green stalk that grows directly from the ground. no other vegetative structure observed immediate to flower specimen. just surrounded by weed and grass. [not familiar with orchids]

Habitat:

tropical/subtropical. pine savannah, scrubland

Notes:

this was the only orchid flower i observed in this area among the abundant grass. first time I see this species of orchid, not common to me and would say it is rare. a second flower was seen on the other side of the highway in the open savannah.
