Though they are quite similar in appearance, I am pretty sure this is a Polyphemus Moth caterpillar. There are distinctive yellow lines that run through the spiracles. On Luna Moth catepillars, the yellow stripes are a bit different. http://bugguide.net/node/view/8776
The link doesn't provide an exact photo reference but these caterpillars change dramatically as they prepare their metamorphosis.
