Field Notes

Description:

Dense head of bright red petals, each three-lobed, with two narrow outer lobes and a broader central lobe. In this species, flowers, stems and leaves densely covered with hairs. Difficult to distinguish particular species, due to many similar species in our area.

Habitat:

This sighting in open grassy meadows above Columbia River Gorge. Catherine Creek Natural Area, Washington.
