Species ID Suggestions

Comments (6)

It is a bit worrisome that there is a lack of experts for ID's here. I do have some experience with European dragonflies (and I have some field guides, know some good websites), but I would not call myself an expert. I can only pick the low-hanging fruit when it comes to ID's here.
I tried to zoom inn on one picture to see.. I will add it now som you can see, he got some yellow ish on his backlegs and on the wings... It's good that there are some people here that can bugs =)
The photo isn't the best for ID, but I'd say Common Darter (Sympetrum striolatum). It should have yellowish stripes on the legs, but those get darker with age (and you have photographed an older one) and the large contrast in your photo makes that hard to see. There are a couple more Sympetrum species in Europe (about 10), but I am pretty sure this one is Sympetrum striolatum (Common Darter).
Thanks... The Common Darter or Yellow winged darter?
It's a Sympetrum species, not a Brown Hawker.
