Thank you Mark. Next time I will, I promise. That day I was really in a hurry!
It's a good idea to capture the base, stem and gills especially for russulas.
Unfortunately I do not know. But..the leaves around the mushroom look beech (and not oak). Thank you very much for your suggestion!
Do you know what species of tree this was under ? In Britain it favours Oak (Quercus) and sometimes Beech (Fagus)
