Spotted this bird in Ojochal, Costa Rica in the Jungle. I believe he is from the toucan family of birds.

Yeah, Carolina, my friend was shocked when she first moved to Costa Rica and came upon a tree that had several nest with eggs and baby hatchlings of a different species of bird and the tiny chicks were being attacked by a gang of these Toucans. She made it seem like it was a massacre She said the whole top of the tree shook as these birds devoured the young chicks and the eggs. They're so pretty though....just keep one eye open. thanks for the posts. much appreciated.
That's correct! Their bill is much lighter than it looks, but they also can eat small lizards and the nestlings and eggs of smaller birds.
Aren't they great birds?! And that bill is only good for eating fruit and seeds, etc. No strength to it at all! Just for looks...and? Nice photo!
