This ant was harvesting honeydew from its aphids in a vacant lot in Durango, CO, in June.

Thanks Myrmecos... I think you're right that it falls in the genus Formica, but there are dozens of Formica species found in this area (SW Colorado), and a number of them look very similar. So I won't hazard a guess as to species.
