Field Notes

Description:

A Limacodidae caterpillar was attacked by weaver ants (Oecophylla sp.). There was a piece of bark attached to the caterpillar, maybe it was used as a protection or camouflage? The second pic (clicked by my iphone camera) shows the number of ants trying to attack the caterpillar.

Habitat:

Seen at an open forest near a river.
