Weaver Ants

I came across this nest by complete accident while recently up in Cairns. I went walking through the rainforest and decided to go off track when i saw this large tree fallen across a creek, though it would be nice to sit out there for a bit. I didnt see anything at the time, but when i came back an hour later i sat there again and noticed a couple of ants in defence mode -first photo - which made realise - and made me excited at the thought - that a nest was really close and on this fallen tree one branch right in the middle had leaves which the nest was built inside
