Field Notes

Description:

Small (about a foot long), black with white spots. Its tail was a solid black.

Habitat:

dry eucalypt forest, scrub, heath and farmland

Notes:

I saw this little guy at a wildlife recovery/sanctuary just outside Hobart, Tasmania.

Not sure - is Bonorong an animal rehabilitation/sanctuary near Hobart? If it is, that is probably where we were! We just happened to see it as we were driving and stopped in, so I do not remember exactly where we were.
Did you go to Bonorong? I haven't been there in awhile. Despite their being only 20 minutes from where we live. I keep meaning to go see the baby devils.
