Field Notes

Description:

Adult mantis with a brown body and green legs

Habitat:

My porch

Notes:

My bug obsession started early: my mother tells me that as a small toddler at a family barbeque, I found a praying mantis and calmly picked up the large insect - allowing it to crawl up my arm as I watched it. (Apparently my extended family was pretty much shocked that anyone - let alone a little girl - would do such a thing. :P) Finding a mantis is always a real treat!
