Here in Alabama there is a small town named Enterprise where in the middle of the town square stands a monument to the Boll Weevil. The area had always counted on cotton farming as it's only cash crop and one year the Bo Weevil invaded and took out the entire harvest. The farmers learned a valuable lesson from this weevil to never put all your resources into only one crop. After that year they diversified their farming planting several different crops and erected the statue in honor of the Boll Weevil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterprise,_Alabama
