Description:
Plant Type: This is a herbaceous plant, it is a perennial which can reach 122cm in height (48inches). The stem is usually covered with soft short hairs.
Leaves: The leaves are alternate. Leaves can reach 10cm in length (4inches). Each leaf generally has small teeth often irregularly spaced. They may be hairy especially the underside.
Flowers: The flowers are irregular in shape and are up to 2cm long (0.75 inches). They are blue with white centers sometimes pinkish or completely white. Blooms first appear in late summer and continue into mid fall. The flowers have a white 'eye' and are very slightly fenestrate on each side near the base.
Habitat: Woods.
Range: All of the eastern U. S. South of the great lakes region.
