I've never seen that pale, rosey-red on a House Finch before; they're usually very red. Then again, I've only been photographing birds & paying attention to such things for about 7 months now, so I haven't seen a whole years cycle yet...so you're probably correct. Thank you, Liam!
This is an adult male House Finch coming out of breeding plumage. Purple Finch would show more color and a defined supercilium (eyebrow).
