Field Notes

Description:

Low growing juniper with blue berries that show fissures

Habitat:

dry slope near the Rogue River at 2,055 ft elevation, in a clearcut near pine, surrounded by Douglas fir.

Notes:

I've not seen juniper in that area before, and can only conclude that the elevation and distance south contributed to its presence. Am not certain it's western Juniper, but decided it by elimination.
