I've been tentatively identifying these same mushrooms found in the Holyoke Range as C. nuda as well. based on the color they take on when they age, like in your second shot.
it could be. therefore it will always just be an suggestion. you must decide because you saw, maybe smelled or touched the mushroom. it is also aways difficult to suggestion mushrooms ---> there are so many LITTLE differents or just the smell can distinguish one mushroom from a total different genus. and i think the place is only an indication, because of climate-change and shipping. as long as the mushroom/animal has his conditions to tribe it could pop up everywhere. but some are yet still where there schould be.!!!
I think it could also be http://mushroom-collecting.com/mushroomblewits.html http://www.mushroomexpert.com/clitocybe_nuda.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clitocybe_nuda since I am in Massachusetts, US.. ?
little tip - try to get as many info about the mushroom as you can : stem;gills; cap and a little bit under/background (on what he grows) when you spott the next mushroom
me too. that is what my world spinned around, sadly here are not so many people intressted in nature- when it isn't camping to grill somewhat.
Thank you! This is my 1st day on Project Noah and I love it.
