Description:

This variety was pink to begin with and when the flower was maturing, the centers turned yellow. It had a compact growth habit.

Habitat:

Night visit to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.

Yes, thank you Kristal. I used to call all bees bumbles..then some point they all became carpenters in my mind. It makes sense that they are Eastern Bumble Bees since the Botanical Gardens have a hive they keep about 100 yards away from where I saw this bee.
That's actually a common eastern bumble bee (Bombus impatiens: http://bugguide.net/node/view/56797). Pretty photo.
