On this lake you can see them all year round usually. More common around this time of year though. Today I saw roughly 5 or 6 of them in total as opposed to the usual 2 or 3 at other times of the year.
Ah! I think this must be what we spotted on a lake at Colwick Park a few weeks ago? Hadn't got binoculars and photos on phone weren't clear enough to upload.
This was on my University's lake, nice to be able to see them so clearly as they usually take shelter further into this island that they are pictured on here
