Field Notes

Description:

This appears to be a seed pod; originally it was a green colour. It's about the length of my thumb tip to first knuckle. It was growing at the top of some water grasses (reeds?)

Habitat:

Water's edge; rocky and sandy shore.

Notes:

I cannot find this in any of my plant books and I have never seen this before in over 40 years of being on the river.
