Yay. These photos were taken with the bright late afternoon sun behind me, so color became less of a factor. I was depending on the wing pattern primarily. Good work, guys. (and thanks for the confirmation, ceherzog).
Yes...KarenS and Ceherzog already cleared it..!!
I think you may be right with the Horace's duskywing, Ashish.
Might be... Erynnis horatius http://www.rlephoto.com/skippers%20SW%202/duskywing_horaces01.htm
Any chance it could be Horace's Duskywing? http://www.google.com/imgres?q=horace%27s+duskywing&hl=en&sa=X&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=plRhOZbZFvtGTM:&imgrefurl=http://www.dpughphoto.com/june_2008&docid=o-eSquEuxwkWaM&w=623&h=400&ei=yXN3Tpb5JpDBtge9n-HPDA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=622&vpy=112&dur=1012&hovh=180&hovw=280&tx=210&ty=143&page=1&tbnh=150&tbnw=214&start=0&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:12,s:0&biw=1280&bih=836
Excellent resources, Karen and Ashish--a lot to look at. Thanks for the help.
Karen might got it... http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species/Carrhenes-canescens http://www.mariposasmexicanas.com/carrhenes_c_canescens.htm

Yes...Golden Skipper.
Agreed Karen, looks like a Hesperiidae sp. Maybe a Duskywing as they do rest like this.
I thought that too, Karen--atypical puts it mildly though. Still searching.
It looks like one of the skippers, even though the resting pose is atypical of that group
