Field Notes

Description:

This looked like a seed pod at the top of a water reed growing at the water's edge; it's about the length of my thumb tip to first knuckle. When we found it, it was green.

Habitat:

River's edge, rocky and sandy shore.

Notes:

I have never seen this seed pod before; the grasses or reeds were thinner than cattails and they were about 3 feet tall.
