Field Notes

Description:

Mandarin ducks are quite commonly spotted in East Asia, and quite often seen in urban areas where there are natural or man-made gardens with a large enough pond. If we take what Wikipedia has to say is true, I've seen at least 1/4 of the Mandarin duck population in China myself between Thousand Islet Lake, to Jinhua, to Hangzhou, to Suzhou. (that's a triangle within 3 hours driving distance between each other).
