Description:

Prickly Pear Cactus: Opuntia Polyacantha

Habitat:

High Desert/ Plains

Notes:

One of two varieties of Prickly Pear Cactus found in Southern Colorado. This type has bunches of spines growing from each point and close together. Pads are 6-10" in diameter. Flowers can ranbe from pink and magenta to yellow and are large in relation to the pad size.
