Field Notes
Description:
This saw-whet owl is an education animal with the Hope for Wildlife animal rehabilitation centre. This picture was taken at their recent fundraiser art show, where he greeted guests. This little owl was injured in a collision with an automobile several years ago, and has lost one wing and the sight in one eye. Because of his disability, he is a permanent resident, and will not be returned to the wild. The centre's permanent resident birds serve as companions and mentors for young birds that arrive for fostering or rehabilitation.
