Description:
Female diamondback terrapin that was captured in order to induce egg laying. This is part of a program to help the population increase. The eggs are incubated and hatched then released back to this location the following summer. This particular female had already been tagged meaning she has contributed to this program in the past.

From my time taking a class on the biology and conservation of marine turtles at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.
