Description:
Spotted this Omnivorous Looper moth on my front door the morning of 9/27. It is about 1.5in wide. It was there all day and I thought it would be gone in the morning, but is is still there on my door! It looks like the moth laid eggs on the door.
Habitat:
Urban house front door.
Notes:
The Omnivorous Looper (Sabulodes aegrotata) is a moth of the Geometridae family. It is found in north-western North America, south to northern California.
The wingspan is 35-44 mm. Adults are on wing year round.
The larvae feed on the foliage of various flowering trees and shrubs, including Alnus, Holodiscus discolor, Rubus spectabilis, Salix and Umbellularia californica.
