Description:

Spotted this Omnivorous Looper moth on my front door the morning of 9/27. It is about 1.5in wide. It was there all day and I thought it would be gone in the morning, but is is still there on my door! It looks like the moth laid eggs on the door.

Thank you Karen! I will submit the photo to them for an ID! :)
You're welcome avatb! They use public sightings to research the movement of all the north american butterfly & moth species. I log any new sightings I have they & they will ID any unknowns though it can take a while for them to get back, especially with the moths.
KarenL -- thanks for that butterfliesandmoths.org resource!
It is a species of geometer moth but it is a very large family & I'm afraid I can't tell you which one specifically. If you submit a sighting to butterfliesandmoths.org they will ID it for you.
This moth has been on my door for two days now and I could not figure out why it would not leave. Today I discovered what looks like green eggs on my door--a photo has been added. Not sure if they were laid by the moth. Any help in an ID of the moth would be great.
