Adult Wild Turkey Description
Large, dark ground-dwelling bird.
Long, powerful legs.
Large, fan-shaped tail.
Bare head and neck.
Short, slightly down curved bill.
Tip of tail chestnut-brown
Habitat:
Native to north america, Wild turkeys like open areas for feeding, mating and habitat. They use forested areas as cover from predators and for roosting in trees at night. A varied habitat of both open and covered area is essential for wild turkey survival.
Notes:
Sprung out of the vegetation when I got to close to it, and started striding back and forth as if it was guarding something. Couldn't find any nest a couple days later when I returned though...
