Field Notes

Description:

large, whitish mass, toothed in many small tufts, reminds me of stalactites in a cave

Habitat:

woodland

Notes:

I spotted this on a fallen log way at the back of Baden Powell Park. I've never seen fungi like this before. One of the coolest I've ever seen.

I have a lot of unknowns too but what I have ID'd I did with the Audubon guide to North American Mushrooms, it's a great guide.
Reminds me of fur. Dan, do you have a fungi reference for getting ID's? I have so many "unknowns". Thanks!
Insanely cool! Almost looks like a fur, do much texture.
Nice series - thanks for the new area of interest for me!
Interesting! I have never seen anything like it!!
Totally different! From the thumbnail I had no clue of what this could be!
