Just to chime in, I too was confused by the Flowers of Oceania mission description at first, because the wording feels all-inclusive but the title is obviously exclusive to Oceania. I ended up assuming it was an Oceania-only group, but would second a recommendation on clarifying the mission statement.
It doesn't upset me at all Karen. And if you are confused by the wording (and I can see how you wold be) than it probably needs to be changed. I think the problem might be your lack of familiarity with the word "Oceania", which like North America, is a term used to describe a a closely related geographical grouping of a continent and islands. The "Flowers of Oceania" mission is just that - flowers spotted in the part of the world know as Oceania. Spottings from elsewhere have other missions. I'll pass this conversation onto the site administrators, and see if they can make the wording a bit clearer. Cheers, Lori.
I'm sorry, I'm hugely confused and was just hoping for clarification. It reads "We want you to help us build a photo collection of flowers from around the world. Show us what flowers are blooming near you." But does not really mention a locale. Since many of them are from N America and other non pacific island locations it seems "of the world" is key. Maybe the wording could be made more specific? I'm sorry it upsets you to have me question this. I'm just following what I am seeing
Yes, it does say, from around the world, but then it narrows the field to "near you" and in this case" near you" applies to those of us in Oceania. As you can see, there is also a "Flowers of North America" mission, which gives you the opportunity to add to that collection of "flowers from around the world" that are near you. I hope that makes more sense. Cheers, Lori.
It does say from around the world..... pity I removed so many flowers
Thanks, and I could have read it wrong too
No problem. I'll check the wording on the mission.
Sure... when I read the descript I was sure it said flowers of the world.
Hey Karen, the "Flowers of Oceania" mission is for flowers spotted in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, and the south pacific islands, or as they are known collectively " Oceania. As your spottings are from the US they don't apply. Can you remove the Oceania mission form your spottings please?
