Field Notes

Description:

A nudibranch (sea slug) with a very variable appearance, can range from very pale purple to almost blue. They are hermaphrodites like all nudibranchs, but are not able to fertilise themselves to must pair up - perhaps what's going on in this photo?

Habitat:

Coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific

Notes:

I was very happy to come across these beautiful nudibranchs. I found them at a fairly impacted site, perhaps they enjoyed all the extra suspended particles...!
