Field Notes

Description:

The sexes are alike. The background color of its upper surface is uniformly orange and variously marked in dark brown patches and streaks which are scattered throughout the wings. The outer margins and forewing apex are not entirely colored in dark brown. The color and pattern of the underside vary. The background color takes on various shades of pale orange, with a purplish tinge apparent in some newly emerged individuals. Some individuals also have a median band of diffused white patches on the hindwing. Its eyes are grey colored.

In an abandoned area near my home (Last pic).

I already looked! 🤭 Oh, okay. Well at least they are going to be used! I'm glad they were not just dumped, but unfortunately that does happen sometimes here if people can't get rid of their used parts.

No selling vehicle spare parts is a business here, a quite popular one. There are many spare parts shops in our area. If you come out of the side roads and go to the main road on the street view, you'll see a huge building named 'Shan Auto Traders'. Those vehicle parts belong to them as far as I know. These are their storage.

Yes, that is exactly what I mean. Although, if you look around the area where I spotted mine, you can see there isn't too much exploring to be done unless you go into the local forests. It is a nice area, but not too much wildlife around me. I see those areas you mention. Do people just drop stuff off there? It actually happens here too in areas where there are no people. Sometimes in the forests I will come across engine parts and car transmissions thrown into the forest.

Well, there's not much to explore. But then again maybe that's because I've explored everything here and nothing new is left to find out lol The area is not exactly pleasant though. Some of those abandoned areas are filled with old vehicle spare parts. It is not a beautiful sight to the eye.

It's great to have a neighborhood full of wildlife in these crazy times. As our country is still facing problems with controlling the pandemic situation, we can't travel freely and are stuck inside our houses. If it weren't for these abandoned sites, I don't know how I would've survived this long lol

Honestly, as I keep looking through the side paths and streets around the area I think it would be amazing to explore, but maybe that is just because it is so different than what I am used to. :)

I checked it out. I think that it is uniquely beautiful. I'm glad that you say it is changing for the better. You definitely find lots of wildlife! So it is also good for us to see. :p

You can check the street view on the map. But it offers the view of the state my neighborhood was many years ago, I'm afraid. It has changed a lot in the past years.

Lol it is. Tbh my house is surrounded by abandoned areas and half-built constructions sites. They are not well maintained so they're covered with numerous amounts of weeds and flower plants. Good for me :)
