Field Notes

Description:

Nymphalidae; Nymphalinae; Limenitidini; Neptis mindorana ilocana C.& R. Felder, 1863. I spotted this butterfly landing, fairly high above me, on a tree and had to stand a short distance away from the tree to get a clear view. This made the butterfly a little beyond the range of my macro lens. So, sorry about the poor quality of the photos, but i decided to go ahead with this spotting because I think that the markings can be seen well enough for identification.

Habitat:

This Typical Sailer was spotted on a Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) in the rice mill backyard. This tree is known here, in Philippines, as Langka. Plant ID - http://www.stuartxchange.org/Langka.
